What I do is I limp down there on my gas tune and then switch to my mix when I get there that way I have as much stuff as I need to get me through the weekend.

No way I am limping down there for almost 1000 miles. Especially since @F1puertorico; has a new setup as well. If I must, but it would be nice to have it down there.

Place is a remote location in the mountains, you will have to choose your battles wisely. Furthermore, you won't need all that HP on those curves anyways. Make sure those brakes and suspension is up to par.

According to these, the closest place for E85 as the crow flies is 40 miles away: Pilot Food Mart #104 , 9550 Northshore Drive, Knoxville 37922. I bet at the far end of the Dragon you're less than 30 minutes from it.

If a lot of people need it, we should have a daily runner for it.

I don't get it. What's wrong with running gas for 1000 miles where you'll probably only go WOT once or twice when you pull off for gas/food? Do you only have an E85 tune? If so I can get you a gas base map just good enough for rolling down the highway. Besides, you'll get way worse gas mileage on an E mix, and you'll use up more of what you brought with you essentially doing nothing but falling asleep with the cruise control on.

I used to run my mix all the time when I first started using it, even when commuting, but then when I went to ENMWM, I realized I wouldn't have enough to get me out there and back, never mind what I would use at the track, so I started switching to my straight gas tune for road trips and have done that ever since. It's so much cheaper just in terms of gas mileage gains alone, and then I don't have to sweat about running out of the good stuff at events.

It's nothing more than a preference, not a debate. Finkle is the only one that tunes my car. Mpg means nothing to me. Smiles per gallon is why I have invested so much money in my car.

Running 5050, I brought an extra 15 gallons of E85 and used 10 of them. I didn't use much throttle on the dragon (I can count my full throttle hits on one hand), so my fuel consumption was probably lower than a lot of people's. Adjust accordingly.

Bring a small ratchet strap and plan your fueling accordingly so you aren't left with a partial jug after fueling up, and so that you're not ripping around with a 5g jug of E85 in your hatch or trunk.


In other news, I got a set of wheels for the slicks, so now I'll just keep the street tires on my Enkeis. Winter projects are moving along.

The pilot station is 40 miles of slow curvy road, not a fast trip. I always fill up the car and two 5 gallon containers at the pilot station, I pass right by it in route.

I just booked 2 rooms for my crew to come down from Cincinnati, will have 4 to 10 cars coming down with me for Friday and Saturday. We have a big car show Sunday back in Columbus, Ohio Sunday that we are booked for so we will leave Sat night after the activities have ended.
