Absolute Load vs Mods

So since i've been "stalking" the forum i've learned alot....but something has been puzzling me for quite some time...If these cars are load tuned...how is it that bolt ons give any additional power if the ecu is always going to stay around a pre-determined load target?

Now i know that the AP and HT raise the load values which is fine but its still looking for a "target" and then begins pulling power. It seems that boost tuning is the true way to get more power without having abs load as a factor...is this correct or does the car make more power with the same load value with bolt-ons...sorry for the round-a-bout way of asking...

Well I am still new to the MS3 but my guess is that each bolt on has a purpose...most either make the engine breathe better, cool intake air temps down, or raise boost/timing which all creates more power...the only one of those that should actually raise the load on your engine would be the higher boost/timing levels imo...but again I'm no expert this is just an educated guess

What the PCM calls "load" is a calculation of the volumetric efficiency of the engine. This is a number that represents the decimalized percentage of the combustion chamber that is filled with clean air at atmospheric pressure.

I'm way too lazy to type up a whole explanation of VE on my iPhone, so just google it and read up.

Point is, more load = more power.

But say if as in our cars the calculated load target is 170 then tapering off...if ii add TMIC DP which would hypothetically give say 40hp......yet i dont get tuned ap/ht but maintain stock tune....once i hit a load of 170 would i have more power or would it still be like stock minus boost spikes and all the other things that come with it such as load cut and boost cuts....you guys have proven the power can be made without astronomical load but my dumb ass is reading too much into it i guess

That's the case with any car that's modified for more power.

Yep...some hold much better than others though...for example coming from SRT-4s and Evos but at the same power levels I had several issues with the Evos and ZERO with the silly little neon...imagine that

yea are reaching the same load levels yes...but you are reaching them more than likely at lower boost levels....more quickly...and more efficiently

however as you pointed it out in your posts...you will never be able to FULLY utilize the gains from your mods without a tune
