(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Connecting to goddamn R4 software/AIC unit This is on a windows 8 laptop. I've tried "compatibility" settings, etc. I'm getting ridiculously frustrated trying to connect to this motherfucking AIC. WHO STILL FUCKING USES SERIAL PORT TECHNOLOGY IN 2014.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I think I figured it out: Windows 8 BLOWS GOAT NUTS. Managed to get R4 on an old netbook I have (WinXP), and connected right to the split second. Fuck windows 8. I'm fixin to buy Win7 to put on that new laptop.

| Not Ranked : 0 score 2 of our 3 products still do (I know, its stupid). If anyone needs a USB to Serial adapter, use the IOGear branded one. The biggest problems with these adapters are the drivers, IOGear seems to be the only one who has drivers all the OS versions.

I tried using R4 on my MAC with XP in Parallels and I can't even open Customers on that without getting error msgs.... I thought it was MAC fail so i tried with my Work IBM which runs XP as well and get the same errors. I am with you who the FUCK uses Serial connectors anymore!!! I have an email in to SS right now.... Can you confirm this works with Windows 7? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I had to finally use an old netbook I have with XP on it to get it working. I know it's finicky regarding the serial/usb connectors that it works with. Would be optimal to find an old lappy with a serial port on it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I work in industrial controls where there is still a lot of (picky) serial stuff around. I've been using a Tripp-Lite branded usb to serial adapter on my Win 7 laptop with good results. I'll see if I can find what the model number is. |
