Default Hypertech Tuning Device Review

Well I ordered this thing Monday and got it today. Its like I have an extra 1000 rpms to actually use now, and the car pulls hard as shit to redline. I logged a fourth gear pull on my stock tune right before I installed it and did a 3rd-5th pull after putting about ten miles on the hypertech tune. I will post those when I get home from work if I can get my girlfriend's vista 32 bit to load the damn thing (my 64 bit vista will not run the DH software).

I hooked it up to my laptop, installed the updater, it updated the thing in like 2 minutes with the latest rev, next I plugged her up, its easy as hell to understand a fucking retarded baby could understand the shit. It asked me if I wanted to remove the 0-60 factory restriction, I of course said yes, then it asked if I had an aftermarket cold air kit installed, I said yes and selected the Cpe Xcel from the list so it could load the correct maf calibration, then it asked if I wanted to raise the factory rev limiter or factory top speed, I didnt see the need to do either of these so I said no to those. Then it started the install, took about 1 minute and it was done. I started it up and it runs smooth as butter, idle even sounds kinda different somehow, not as clacky and shitty sounding I guess?

Third gear I can actually pull hard to 80 now... Thats a hell of a lot better than the stock tune where it dies off at 5500 rpm. 100 mph comes really fucking fast as does 120. Bottom line, if you are on stock turbo and want a simple plug and play off the shelf tune that hauls ass, this is a great alternative.

See these threads on M247 if you want to read up on their tuning technique and more info.

Here are a couple logs.

Edit: June 15th, here are a couple more logs after a month or so of running the tune, both are fifth gear logs and i didnt have enough road to run out fifth gear all the way, but i wanted to see how it held boost, and the boost looks pretty smooth to me. Pulls like a mofo even in fifth from 3500 rpm onwards. Fuel pressure still seems to be holding fine as well, doesnt dip below 1600 by more than like 5 psi or so according to my dashhawk.

Edit: July 12th, I added some more logs from after my txs catless dp install, looks like i will be needing a fuel pump next... You can see that the fuel pressure dips below 1400 right as peak boost is hit.

I got it for 430 shipped, which is much less than 595 for an ap, granted it doesnt do all the fancy shit that cobb's ap can, but thats why i got it, because i didnt want all those extra features like ATR, because I would more than likely fuck something up.

It worked with your race pipe, but will it work for a Downpipe?

I got mine for about $400 with 2 K&N oil filters because of some promo code I found. Googled it and found that one of the first sites to pop up was the cheapest.

I like it but I'm not planning on ever getting a downpipe, maybe a test pipe and cbe. It does pull hard all the way to 6300 or so, that's as far as I take it. Next step for me is 1 step colder plugs and a TMIC. Then cdfp internals if I ever see mine drop off, still holds 1650-1700 at WOT. Hopefully I won't get into boost/fuel cut range with only intake side mods.

yea if you check out those links to m247, they say that the tune will respond really well to a new intercooler, whether it be front mount or aftermarket top mount, and i think there are a couple people running it with a downpipe already. Basically they say that the tune will be able to handle basically anything besides a bigger turbo.

I got mine last Friday for 300 used. Runs great, I can really feel the difference in 1st and 2nd gear. I need more time to evaluate 3rd and up as I was on a gas mileage test, wound up with 32.5 mpg.
Mods: COBB SRI, PG Inlet, ebay test pipe.

Part number is 62003-same for all Mazda's I believe.
Previous owner went too far on mods for this to be useful. Went to the Accessport. Seemed perfect for me because I don't plan on a downpipe, only thing left for me power-wise I think is a new top mount intercooler, but that won't be for awhile.

I did and did not see HKS SRI for their intakes that is why I'm asking around unless I missed. I saw their sheets with an aftrmrkt intake/exhaust with 288whp. I will def get a CBE just not sure with my SRI. Maybe I'm missing something?

Everything I've read about these have been good so far. There is even a vid on youtube of a guy doing his stock tune vs hypertech on a dyno, I'm not sure how to link or I would. I emailed them and this summer they are going to be working on one for my car, so pumped.

They don't list every intake because they didn't test them all. I heard they brought back the car for COBB because it is a popular intake but I can't be certain. I chose the CP-e nano I think, as it is was comparable. I haven't had any issues yet, though its only been a week.

People, if it will compensate for a downpipe, it will definitely compensate for an intake not on their list.

This seems almost too good to be true for my retarded ass. I want more power with minor bolt ons without having to tune myself via ATR, I knew it would just be a matter of time before I blew my shit up so I sold my accessport. Pending more positive reviews, I will be all over this hypertech tune like stink on phillyb..

dont wait too long they will probably start selling a lot of these as more reviews come out and will likely sell out at some point. I am like you and didnt want to mess with tuning myself and I like the fact that this tune calibrates the maf for my specific intake.

I can't wait until this comes out for the 2nd gen. I think most people (myself included) just want a few minor bolt ons and simple tune to give the car a little more uuumph without having to get the engine built.

Yea, but they are making them car specific. Meaning, they have purchased several exhausts for each vehicle and are tuning the cars based on each exhaust. Not a generic tune.

hmm, i wonder which one would apply to me then, i have all three stock resonators cut out with a racing beat muffler from their ms3 catback kit welded in place of one of the stock resonators... its still 2.5" piping though so i dont know if I will be able to take advantage of the catback tunes...

Everyone who's bought a hypertech should go and register it on the website because they'll email you any time there's an update available. That's what Chris@hypertech from 24/7 told me. He needs to become a vendor over here.

I plan on ordering one tommorow...I was heavy into ATR and the AP but after blowing, I decided that I am not qualified for ATR and now with my current mods, this will work perfectly!
