im interested in what you may come out with, but i'm telling you right now... the r8 pumps are the same as the 2.0t gti pumps. don't debate with me on VW's, you'll lose. That is why you approach 400hp at redline stock, because the pump allows you to flow that. lol. look at my chart, i'll make it to 10000rpm or 18000 if you wanna throw it on an yammy r1.
the redline being at 7800rpm, or probably higher in the 4.2l FSI motor (its actually 8250rpm). so, easily, on the stock pump, working that fast, you'll flow enough fuel at proper pressures for 450+ hp. the whole point is doing it in more volume at a lower rpm, which is why the bigger internals are made.
i don't have anything against you john... i'm about to take your money when you buy my stock turbo. I want to save you r&d time.
Forget the audi OE pumps - regardless of what model of car its coming from.
edit: yes randy, you know whats up, cause you know I know whats up from the VAG world. On a side note,with the injector comments, I just mailed out a set of injectors to be flow tested at all different PSI's. The higher pressure they're run at,the more they flow. I should have GRAPHICAL results by the end of next week.
I will let this die and have it move on. I have been doing DI on gas cars for over a 10 years now (Rally back ground) and over 20 years on diesels. I built and worked with the crew that built the worlds fastest diesel and that was a common rail design.
I have been building cars and repairing them for over 22 years. I know better then to challenge someone on a car that I know nothing about (VW) but the systems of a car is the same no matter what, if you have DI on one car it pretty much works the same as on the other.
I will now throw you a bone to help out with your R&D, no one makes a coated piston seleve for the pump upgrades like the stocker? Why do they coat the stocker? When its all done I will have $10k wrapped up in my pump upgrade and it will be a coated part. We have already tested 3 units and we have been finding some interesting stuff out with the bench tester. It looks like the spring for the pump upgrades may be bouncing off the lobes under very high RPM. The additional weight of the bigger piston may be over working the stock spring, looks like a better spring may be needed as well. Again this is just something for you to think about because when people start running out of DI pump with your upgrade, where do you think they are going to turn? Just food for thought.
