Default question about volo performance chip

I was looking online the other day and saw a performance chip for a mazdaspeed 3. It was called a volo vp12. It had plenty of testimonials and a dyno sheet for a mazdaspeed 6 showing a hp increase of 16 hp. the unit is $90 from the company. I guess im just trying to find out if anyone has heard of this or has any first hand experience with this product??? Below I am attaching a copy of the Dyno results

yeah the hypertech has more HP increase than the Volo, but you are getting alot of bang for the buck with the volo. $80 for a 16 HP gain is not bad. People are more than happy to spend $150 to $175 on the Cobb SRI and gaining 11 HP.

Yea those chips usually just play with voltages. I'd never put something like that on my car. All it does is lean out the car by manipulating the voltages. Not worth the risk of popping your motor for 16HP if you ask me.

maybe. The company says they guarantee that it wont damage any part of ur car and will not void your warranty. You would have to read more into it yourself at voloperformance.com

doesn't matter what the company says, it's what Mazda says when your motor blows concerning the warranty.

So why don't YOU buy it, and let us know how it goes?

All we're trying to say, is that those things are a fucking hoax. A long long time ago, in a galaxy far away, a dumbass friend of mine bought one in highschool for his '98 GT. Do you know what it is? Your $90 you will spend on it, you can go to Radioshack, and buy the same resistor for .40 cents, and you stick it in the leads of your MAF to "trick" your ECU about the airflow coming in, i.e leaning your car out. The only difference is on their site, is they wrap it up all nice and neat in a plastic fucking box, and slap +16hp gain! sticker on it, and attach two wires on the resistor so it looks all sophisticated. Point is, would you want a .40 cent resistor "manipulating" the airflow coming into your engine that's not proven? And yes, my friend's car felt like it lost 40hp when he put that piece of shit thing in.
*Edit, looks like they're trying to be more fancy and used a $2.00 IC chip instead, and added .50 cents worth of LED's to make it look cool. And also you have to plug 4 of "their" wires on your OBD-2 port...eeeek, not sure if I'd trust that.

... i know they don't give a peak power output... i never said something about peak output did I? I'm saying they claim a 64HP increase, if you think that's possible out of just a tune you're an idiot... you aren't going from 240whp to 300whp on a tune...

But yes OP... get that chip and i think they just make the car think it's pulling in more air or something... no worth it
