yeah with this car you just never know..LOL

I also think that with the more power your are making the more impact SWAS makes on power reduction when triggered.

This could be a clue as to how it is interacting with other tables I guess. Example, looks like it is using a negative multiplier of sorts and so the more power you are making, a la Load maybe, the more it richens up AF and retards ign advance and what ever else it may do IDK.

but this begs the question, why richen up AF to reduce power? Why not just close the throttle plate? Or is closing TPS causing the rich condition? hum.

Seems when I logged, last AP FW which still had a fairly fast logging rate, I didn't see TPS change when SWAS dropped my face into the wheel.

I need to add that to my list of 1K things to test LOL

I've never experienced any of what you guys are talking about.
Then again, I don't believe in driving aids personally, so I've habitually held the button on start up since day one. Even when I thought it didn't do anything more over just pressing the button.

Holding the button on start up doesn't fix this problem. At least for me, nothing short of unplugging the SWAS made a difference.

it would be much cooler if @David@COBB could uncover the tables the ecu switches to when SWAS is triggered.

This way we keep stability control and lose the bad stuff.

I would not put this on the priority list but if he happened to stumble [hehe] across it that would be nice.

When I captured it in a log it appeared to pull timing and richen up AF so at least two tables in play. Very similar to the rich retard after a normal shift when FFS was enabled and he found those tables. [clutch in/out]

I posted it somewhere, but to restate I like the swervy car dash light. It is like my car knows how it is going to get driven before I even start moving.

and would probably cause a new rattle trying to disable the light. And rattles are WAY more annoying then lights. I pulled the hood off the instrument cluster to hook up the speed pulse cable for my AVIC. I have pulled it apart twice since trying to fix the rattle it caused.

Just did mine...Gen1 has 4 screws... the two you can readily see on the bottom of the column, the one you can hardly see way under tyhe column, bahind teh wheel adjuster, but before you get to that one, you gotta pull out the hood release- push in tab on top of the unit, and pull straight out. Then there's a screw right behind it.

All went back on way easier than it came off.

No rattles (taped the white plug down)

I was hoping there would be some wet roads this am to go throw my ass around a little... nothing but sunshine.

So has anyone compared logs from this to when you hold in the DSC button at start-up?

Disconnected my SWAS a few months ago. Just pulled the two screws under the dash, pulled down that part and used a pick tool to push the plug retainer. Took about 4 minutes. Easy to do. I did 4 other Speed 3's in NM one night at a local meet. Took like 15 minutes combined for all 4 in the dark!

I was wondering, for Dano and the others that had oversteer... Are you guys turning off DSC as well? I have never had any issues with breaking loose, or oversteer. But I never leave anywhere with DSC on.

And for the logs... I did a lot of driving and comparing with DSC on, off and holding the button at start up. I will still lose power if the wheel was turned. It seemed harder to do, but it would cut eventually. The logs never gave me any answer. No magic boost number. If the wheel was turned, the SWAS would activate. No issues since unplugged.

With the SWAS disconnected and DSC on, I suspect the car will default to the steering wheel at 0 degrees (straight). That would explain why it no longer limits boost. It would also explain why the car would use rear braking when the system detects yaw and slipping; it's assuming the car is sliding with the wheel straight forward, and is trying to straighten out the rear end.

Fuck logs... I can seriously feel my car's faster through hard curves. Never realized it till now- how stoopid that computer sensor crap is.

Putting the brakes on for you while you're trying to accellerate through a curve- it's counterproductive. Braking in a curve unlads the rear tires, that will cause slip and slide. Accellerating through and out of a curve keeps the nose up and the rear end planted.

Moreso with a RWD, but still applies here.

Unplug your shit.

can anyone confirm if it is the same wire on genpu?

also, what type of switch did you use? was it a basic on/off switch or did you get one that you could ground out?

you just want to open the circuit, do not ground! just carries a signal so a light duty switch will work

as for gen poo their is a how to on them also

but if you can find the swas, i checked, found the hot, found the ground, put the switch on the signal wire, but i think it would work, if any of the wires are interrupted .

to disable the thing...

But clipping that wire is a permanent modification that might void my warranty.
